Welcome to my Live Care & Share Blog

A snow day is the perfect excuse to take some time for yourself to unwind and do something that you genuinely enjoy such as:

  • Have an at-home spa day
  • Hold a video game tournament
  • Sleep in
  • Catch up on episodes of your favorite television shows
  • Call a friend or family member to catch up
  • Curl up with a good book
  • Put a yoga DVD in and channel your inner Zen
  • Do some online shopping
  • Make a scrapbook
  • Plan your next vacation to a tropical climate
  • Try out an interesting new recipe

Maybe some house re-arranging, cleaning or organizing

  • Rearrange a room
  • Clean out a junk drawer
  • Do the laundry
  • Perform a tough cleaning job that you’ve been avoiding
  • Cover a pillow
  • Explore new design blogs for redecorating inspiration

These activities for children from Better Parenting can entertain the whole family the next time a snow storm keeps you grounded:

  • Have a family talent show
  • Invent a new recipe, using the items inside your refrigerator
  • Build a snowman
  • Tell ghost stories
  • Play Simon Says
  • Create a dance routine to a favorite song
  • Draw portraits of one another
  • Write letters to grandparents or distant relative
  • Have an indoor picnic

Snow-fogato (3 condiments)
Affogato is a simple Italian dessert where espresso is poured over ice cream. Use snow as a stand-in. Pack together fresh snow to make a tight snowball about the size of a baseball. Put in a large coffee cup. Pour in 2-3 TBSP of sweetened condensed milk and then strong coffee. Top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings and eat quickly!

Maple Snow Cone (2 condiments)
This icy treat is a winter version of a refreshing summer favorite. Scoop fresh snow into a paper cup or cone. Drizzle with pure maple syrup to taste. Add a splash of bourbon for an adult version.

Today and tomorrow is a great time to cook for the entire week (maybe months!!) haha!

Turkey meatballs or meat loaf –1 serving = 5oz or 7oz (cooked based on program) = 1 Protein

2 lbs of lean ground turkey

1 medium white onion

½ cup finely chopped parsley or cilantro (2 TBSP dried)

2 Lg Eggs

4 TBSP wheat germ (or panko bread crumbs)

Sea salt and pepper to taste

Put ground turkey in a big bowl. In a different small bowl, grate or use food processor, for the white onion until its very fine. Squeeze the liquid out of the grated white onion and discard. Put squeezed onion in the ground turkey bowl. Add chopped parsley, eggs, wheat germ, salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly. Then place either in 2 meat loaf pans or make into meatballs. Bake one of the pans of the meatloaf or some of the meatballs and freeze the rest.  You can put BBQ sauce on the meatloaf or put the meatballs with marinara sauce. ENJOY!
